Mr. Met's New Baseball Head is Sore, Strained, Inflamed, Tight, and Stiff
Not unlike his struggling team, some minor ailments continue to keep Mr. Met from returning to duty.
QUEENS, NY — Mr. Met was expected to return to work at Citi Field on April 21 for the series opener loss against the Twins. He still hasn’t been cleared to leave the physical rehabilitation center at Mount Sinai.
Several members of the Mets’ active roster are day-to-day. Soreness. Tightness. Stiffness of varying provenance. It is the nature of this team, this season. Mr. Met’s situation has been described in similar terms.
His head was declared a dead ball on April 20th following an incident at his Queens tenement on April 17th. An emergency transplant followed. Recovery has not gone as planned.
“He’s sore. Stiff. A little strained around the neck area,” said Juan, a tenured and valued therapist for the Mets organization. “Tight, too. You shouldn’t go to work when you feel that way.”
The Mets lost to the Rockies 3-0 on April 26, completing a series sweep. Mr. Met could not be reached for comment.
