Wellness Update: Wally Not Among Those Let Go
The Red Sox fired Alex Cora and five coaches the day of a 17-1 victory. Wally, who has been inside the left field wall since April 7, is not believed to be subject to the personnel changes.
BOSTON — The Boston Red Sox fired their manager, Alex Cora, and five members of the coaching staff Saturday, the same day they routed the Orioles 17-1. The organization has not really explained the timing.
Wally the Green Monster has been inside the left field wall since April 7. He is not believed to be among those let go. This makes him, at present, among the more tenured and stable members of the Red Sox’s current baseball operation.
His representatives confirm he remains unavailable. Nothing, they said, has changed.

Correction: A previous version of this article said the firings occurred on Wednesday and that three members of the coaching staff were let go alongside Cora. We regret that the timing and numbers here clearly had us a bit confused and off our game.
