Swoop Has Pectile Dysfunction. Philly Knows.
The proud mascot of the Philadelphia Eagles confided in his therapist. The therapist violated his patient confidentiality rights.
PHILADELPHIA, PA — Swoop is a bald eagle. “I’ve never felt self-conscious or concerned about the fact I’m bald,” Swoop shared during an interview with Sad Mascots from his South Philly flat. “I’m mortified about this one.”
The curtains are drawn. The light is low. On Swoop’s request, we entered his apartment only when no other humans could be seen on the street.
The 2025 Eagles season was a letdown for many fans. Following a Super Bowl victory, the team’s hopes of a repeat quickly vanished. It was apparent to us that Swoop took it worst of all.
He exhaled. “I just, you know, going from champs to such a disappointing finish sent me tumbling. I’ve been worried about this upcoming season. I needed to see someone about it all. I was dealing with some…unexpected symptoms.”
Swoop, not covered by the Eagles’ organizational health insurance policy, was forced to seek help on his own. He found a therapist near his home in South Philly, Jean Tranmore. Licensed by The Greater Philadelphia Association of Supportive Wellness Practitioners, Jean practices out of an office in a strip shopping center off of I-95. “I guess I should’ve known when I first walked into the office. That laminated certificate on the wall behind her desk, printed with smudges and all.”
Two weeks ago, social media posts began surfacing claiming that Swoop was suffering from Pectile Dysfunction. The condition is rare but known, and is characterized by the progressive softening of the beak, rendering standard pecking functions unreliable. The news instantly went viral in the city of Philadelphia. The source was eventually traced back to Swoop’s therapist Jean — specifically, an Alcoholics Anonymous meeting mishap during the ‘Weird and Wonderful’ sharing section, according to other attendees. Jean Tranmore has yet to respond to requests for comment from Sad Mascots.
Swoop concluded our meeting sipping soda from a straw. “I was immediately over being mad at Jean,” he assured us. “I learned a long time ago that I could waste all my time and energy being mad at people like her in a place like this. The real problem now is just facing the public. The fans.” He glances around the room, and scratches his beak. “It’ll be a tough time for me. It’s gonna be long and hard ya know?” He pauses and lightens a bit. Swoop points to the tip of his beak, and lets out an enormous laugh.
