Crunch Cites McDaniels, Declines to Apologize for Rocky's Cubs
Three of Rocky's cubs are unaccounted for. Crunch has issued a statement. The statement is mostly Jaden McDaniels quotes.
MINNEAPOLIS, MN — Crunch, the Minnesota Timberwolves mascot, has declined to apologize for the disappearance of three of SuperMascot Rocky’s cubs. He has instead issued a statement.
“They don’t got anyone who can defend the den,” Crunch said Thursday, one day after Timberwolves forward Jaden McDaniels described the Nuggets as a team that “don’t got people that can defend the rim.” “Even if Rocky’s there, we’re more athletic than him. We’re faster. We want it more.”
Rocky, the Denver Nuggets’ mountain lion, has not responded to our requests for comment. His representatives confirmed that cubs are missing and that Rocky is busy attempting to track down his young. They offered no further comment.
Crunch was asked whether entering the den unannounced and removing the cubs constituted a matter separate from NBA rim protection. He said he wasn’t sure what that question was getting at.
“Jaden said what he said,” Crunch added. “I’m not going to walk that back for him. And I’m a wolf. You know how we do.”
McDaniels, reached for comment, appeared uncomfortable. He said he was referring to the game of basketball only.
Correction: A previous version of this article quoted Jaden McDaniels as saying the Nuggets “don’t got people who can defend the rim.” A natural mistake as we wrote, but required a re-reading of the exact quote.
